Also Rebecca their daughter who died in infancy. Also the said John AMOS who died July 22 1834 aged 66 years.In memory of John AMOS late in Canonby Mill who died 19 April 1795 aged 79 years. Also Margaret Graham spouse to John AMOS died at Bombie aged 62 years 13 July 1777. Also their sons Adam James and Thomas both born at one birth and died in infancy. Also William died in Africa 13 February 1770 aged 22 yeaars. Also Gilbert surgeon to the Traffick perished near Liverpool 16 October 1775 aged 19 yeaars. Also in memory of Margaret EDGAR spouse of Robert AMOS in Newtown who died April 17 1820 aged 76 years. Of James RODDAN his son in law who died at Glenzier Mill the 3rd of Oct 1832 aged 29 years.December 23rd 1826 Carlisle PatriotOn the 7th inst. as Andrew Armstrong, hostler at the Durham Ox Inn, Rickergate, was crossing the Glinger near Longtown, on horseback, he was carried downstream in consequence of it being in a swollen state, and having lost his seat, it is supposed, was unfortunately drowned. Also Margaret GRINDLEY spouse to the said David EDGAR who died Dec 11th 1862 aged 66 years.September 13th 1834 Carlisle JournalMelancholy OccurrenceOn Wednesday last a man?s hat was found floating in the river Petteril, about a mile below Wreay, which led to suspicions of its owner being drowned, which afterwards proved too true. It was found to belong to Mr John Edgar, grocer, of Rickergate, Carlisle (brother to Mr Edgar of the firm of Swan and Edgar, drapers, Piccadilly, London) who had been at Wreay on Tuesday last, attending to a farm he had recently taken at that place. During that evening he had gone to visit a neighbour on the opposite side of the Petteril, where he stayed till near eleven at night; and as the night was dark and the river much swollen, he was urged to allow one of the family to accompany him until he had passed the bridge. He persisted, however, in objecting to his precaution, and at length set off alone. He appears to have missed the bridge and to have got below it where owing to the darkness and the great height of the water, he had lost himself and finally was carried away by the river. The traces of footsteps were seen next day close to the water . . . To the memory of Frances the daughter of Robert & Mary EDGAR of Rowanburnfoot farmer who died in her infancy. A second William died March 1802 aged 1 year & 9 months. Frances his daughter died Jany 31st 1806 aged 20 years. James their son died in Langholm Augt 27th 1810 aged 22 years. Also John their son who died in London April 17th 1828 aged 52 years & was interred in St Luke?s churchyard. And Richd? Forster their son who died the 9th of Feb 1844 aged 57 years. Erected in memory of Jane daughter of William FORSTER of Nookfoot died Decr the 22nd 1782 aged 18 years. And of Sarah his daughter who died - - Erected in memory of Peter GRAHAM who died at Cubbyhill 4th December 1825 in the 86th year of his age. Also Anne Nichol his spouse who died April 1831 aged 86 years. Also Peggy their daughter who died 6th August 1836 aged 50 years.NB Peter Graham and his wife Anne Nichol were the parents of William Graham of Cubby Hill, buried at Kirkandrews on Esk.
