Note: from the Carlisle Patriot November 25th 1843At Longtown on the 22nd inst, Mr Thomas Blaylock, late of Moat in the parish of Kirkandrews on Esk, he was a farmer under Sir JRG Graham Bart, and his father the late Sir James Graham, Bart, for upwards of 60 years, aged 89. Both of these built into the wall at the main gate- Here lye George TEALFER who died the water Nover the 1 1696, being the Lord's Day as they were going home from the kirk after sermon, age 22.Here lyes Andrew CROSBIE, son to David CROSBIE in GLINYER who died in the water Novert (sic) 1 1696, being the Lord's Day as they were going home from kirk after sermon, age 2Tradition states that the Esk River came down in flood during the service and the boat was overloaded carrying 28 to 35 of the passengers who were drowned.Two are buried in Kirkandrews--William ATTCHISON and Adam LITTLE of Millrighs buried the same day.
